The Body Netflix premieres on November 11, 2026. The eight-episode teen drama comes from creator Quinn Shephard and follows a Catholic school dance squad whose initiation ritual goes badly wrong.
Part high school soap, part supernatural mystery, it stars Sofia Wylie and Geena Meszaros. Netflix has been teasing it with a sneak peek that asks who has what it takes to become a Lion.
Here is everything we know about the story, the cast, the age rating and whether it looks worth your time.

The sneak peek, titled “So You Wanna Be Lions?”, takes us to St. Mark’s School, where the Lions dance team has one open spot. Grace, played by Wylie, and Lisbeth, played by Meszaros, are the two girls asked to prove themselves.
It plays like a competitive teen drama on the surface, which makes the darker material around it feel more unsettling. Netflix’s own tags describe the series as soapy and chilling.

- One open spot on the squad

- An audition that sets up the later initiation

Story of The Body
The series is set around a Catholic school’s dance team. After an initiation goes wrong on Halloween night, the girls are haunted by religious guilt, forbidden desire and visions they cannot explain.
Those visions turn out to be prophetic, and word of them spreads, setting off a wave of panic through the town. What starts as a rivalry over a place on the squad grows into something much bigger.
Netflix’s tags mention a high school setting and a mystery base, and note that the story is adapted from a play. It leans into teen melodrama while borrowing from horror.
Grace and Lisbeth
The sneak peek puts these two at the centre, and their rivalry looks like the emotional spine of the season.

Behind the Camera
Quinn Shephard created the series, writes it and runs it as showrunner, and she directs the premiere and several other episodes. Shephard has described it as a raunchy teen psychodrama with a hint of Catholic horror, and as a love letter to teen movies and erotic thrillers of the 1990s and early 2000s.
Executive producers include Shephard, plus Amy Israel, Peter Chernin and Josh Stern of North Road, and Riley Keough, Gina Gammell and Sacha Ben Harroche of Felix Culpa.
Themes Explored
Faith and guilt
The Catholic setting frames the girls’ desires as something to be ashamed of.
Belonging
The squad tryouts show how far teenagers will go to be picked.
Hysteria
A few visions spiral into town-wide fear.
Coming of age
Shephard has said people never stop coming of age, and the show applies that to adults too.
The Body Age Rating & Parents Guide
Netflix lists TV-MA in the US, meaning it is for adults. We did not find an India rating yet.
Expect sexual themes, scary imagery and intense emotional situations, all involving school-age characters. Parents should know the teen setting does not make it teen-friendly.
Suitable for ages 17+ by our reading of the TV-MA label; this is a guideline, not an official advisory.
Release Date & Where to Watch
The Body premieres on Netflix on November 11, 2026, and the full series is eight episodes. Netflix has not published a release time that we could find.
Should You Watch It? Our Verdict
Verdict: Worth a try. A glossy, genre-mixing teen mystery with a distinctive voice.
This verdict is based on the sneak peek, Netflix’s description and the creator’s comments, not on viewing the show. We found no critic reviews yet, so there is no score.
The pitch is strong: dance team rivalry, religious dread and ghostly visions. The risk is tone, since mixing camp, melodrama and horror is hard to balance.
Watch it if you like:
- soapy teen thrillers
- Catholic-school horror and mystery
Skip it if:
- you dislike mature teen content
- you prefer realistic dramas
Final Thoughts
The Body on Netflix looks like a stylish, strange teen drama that is not afraid to be messy. We will update this post once reviews arrive.
